LIVE BROADCAST CONCERT BENEFITS COMMUNITY MEMBERS AFFECTED BY MAUI WILDFIRES

Hawaiʻi organizations rally to support recovery efforts through benefit concert at Bishop Museum on August 20

Honolulu – Amid the devastation of wildfires on Maui, organizations across Hawaiʻi have joined together to produce “Maui Ola: A Benefit Concert for Maui,” a live concert and broadcast fundraiser, where 100 percent of proceeds will support Maui’s severely impacted communities, through donation portals, including Maui United Way, Hawaiʻi Community Foundation, Hawaiʻi People’s Fund and Council for Native Hawaiian Advancement. Event producers, musical artists, celebrities and community leaders aim to garner the attention and financial support of local, national and international audiences.

The event will take place on Sunday, August 20 at the Bishop Museum. Doors will open at 5 p.m. for in-person attendees. The entire event will be available via livestreaming on mele.com and on various social media accounts. With the collaboration of Kāhuli Leo Leʻa and all local TV stations—KGMB, KFVE, KHNL, KITV, KIKU, KHII, KHON, PBS Hawaiʻi and Honolulu Star-Advertiser—and radio stations—iHeartMedia, Salem Media Group, Summit Media, Pacific Media Group. Portions of the event will be simulcasted on all local channels throughout the evening.

“All artists, production staff and broadcast partners are coming together and pooling our donated time and resources to deliver a resounding message to the rest of the world: Maui needs our help. In times of need, Hawaiʻi bands together and helps one another. We, in the creative industry, have a unique contribution to bring attention to the dire needs of our Maui community,” said co-producer and executive director Zachary Lum.
Co-producer and executive producer of Ponoʻī Productions, Keʻala Lucero added, “Music has a wonderful way of opening people’s hearts and reminding us of our connections to one another. We hope the music shared by some of Hawaiʻi’s leading talents will have that kind of effect.”

Maui Ola is made possible by the contributions and collaborations of countless community organizations focused on providing relief to Maui residents impacted by recent wildfires. Learn more about this event by visiting www.mauiola.org
